I used to try and sing with my Karaoke machine - but since the COPD set in - forget it. I'm jealous, you sing! I won't compare you with Kathy Lee, cause I can't stand her and it was the only music I could find that had that song on it. The other one I love is Eydie Adam's version of "That's All". Hard to find a slow version of that song.
I wish I lived near by! I would love to have homemade sauerkraut. It's been around 54 years or something like that. Sigh.
My favorite memory and I actually got sick of them was her homemade Bosenberry Pies. I tried growing them myself, except my Beagle, Lucy Brown, would eat them off the bush before I ever had a chance to gather enough to do anything. About my only claim to fame in that house was my infamous plum tree and my plum jam of which I am still holding on to 3 jars. Sigh. I don't know what I am saving them for. I should just use them up and call it a day.
I came from a very small family. My aunt, like me, never had children. So grandma only had 3 and my brother wasn't really around that much since he came late in life and lead a different life. Far far removed (thankfully now) -- Evem my sister lived in another state, so I pretty much had grandma to myself as I did with my aunt. However, I missed living around my mom whom I didn't get to see very often - mostly phone, email in the later part of her life - like 6 years of it.
My aunt never did get into the computer and neither did my grandmother. But it was still early on in 1986 and 1993 - so it was even before I was messing with the net - I didn't get involved until 1994. AOL was my first stop and that was short lived.
OMG! Yep Avacado Trees, Peach Trees, apples, pears, chickens (well not in the trees), but I did see one running around without her head after grandpa chopped it off. Ugh. I still have the bedroom furniture from that house. I miss it, I miss it. My grandmother used to make the best Homemade sauerkraut in these huge metal milk vats. She was from Czech. and oh could she cook. She was the head cook for Sonja Henie (she didn't even live as long as my grandma) who treated my grandmother awful. She also worked for Zasu Pitts (she didn't live as long as grandma either) and Edward G. Robinson (now I have to look him up just to see - nope) who treated her the best. Grandma was a trip, Born 1896 and died January 1986, a week before she was going to come up to my house and see it as I wanted her to move in. Darn her. Oh we are dating each other, aren't we? I really loved living with my grandma while my sister was having surgery. I loved snuggling with her, laying my head in her lap and her brushing my hair. The three most powerful influence on my life, my grandmother, my aunt and my mom. Thank God I was born into my crazy family.
Considering the rest of this planet, I'm doing pretty darn good. As long as I am breathing, it's a good day. I'm really homesick for CA - beautiful area you live in. I remember Vista when I was a kid - my grandparents owned 5 acres on a hill. Boy do I wish they never sold that land - I would be worth millions today. Sigh. We used to go to Oceanside when there were only little bungalows on the beach. Can you even imagine? What a laugh. I know that entire area all too well.
AG, I'm not gonna answer the 60's for awhile, since we're playing that decade on Jig, now. I'll try to get back to the other decades today, but it's the end of the month and I need to go pay some bills! Ugh.
You were right on two of the 60's and two of the 70's. Sorry I don't have time to run the games in here yet... but I'll send you an inviation to come play as soon as I'm ready!
I forgot to mention that according to my database ( have to keep one for a cheat sheet) I currently have 981 shows. Of course as soon as I can determine how many of the 2008 offerings are gonna make it, I'll have to expand that number to include them.
I'm really glad that you're enjoying the game so much! It makes all the work worth while, and I do so-o-o-o love posting it and getting good reactions from people that like the walk down memory lane.
Yes, it's a lot of initial work. Once I have found the files (either pictures/sound or video), I have to cut and crop and insert the show info so that they know when it aired (after I've looked all that up - of course) and on what channel and the genre. Show titles sung in the theme are a particular joy! LOL
After I've created the cropped video segements, I export them to smaller sized file format (.WMV) and upload them to this site. From there - it's all downhill. All I have to do is layout a posting sheet (Word doc) and copy the code, so that when I start posting them to Jig, or MF all I have to do is copy/paste. That part takes me a whole 5 mins. to do 10 of 'em! Then people come out and answer them, and I post comments and all the data I've gathered on each show.
Geeze, now that I've laid it all out - it IS a bunch of work and I'm tires. LOL
I see from the post notes that you re-e-e-a-l-l-l-y do like my tv game! LOL Since I'm still in the process of putting the video together for the 50's (Lots-O-Work) I won't be running any of the games on this site, until I've finished. Thanks for joining the different decades though, and now that you're a member - you'll get the notice when I send out the board wide messges that I send for whatever decade I'm running!
I fear finding these shots of just the scenery is going to be problamatic. If you have the DVD's to work with and do a lot of work to find shots with no people in them you can do it though, if you wanna take the time. Since I cannot seem to get photos from my video (.wmv/mpeg or .avi formats), I'm sorry to say I don't think I can be of much help.
What TV Shows did you grow up with?
