I used to try and sing with my Karaoke machine - but since the COPD set in - forget it. I'm jealous, you sing! I won't compare you with Kathy Lee, cause I can't stand her and it was the only music I could find that had that song on it. The other one I love is Eydie Adam's version of "That's All". Hard to find a slow version of that song.
I wish I lived near by! I would love to have homemade sauerkraut. It's been around 54 years or something like that. Sigh.
My favorite memory and I actually got sick of them was her homemade Bosenberry Pies. I tried growing them myself, except my Beagle, Lucy Brown, would eat them off the bush before I ever had a chance to gather enough to do anything. About my only claim to fame in that house was my infamous plum tree and my plum jam of which I am still holding on to 3 jars. Sigh. I don't know what I am saving them for. I should just use them up and call it a day.
I came from a very small family. My aunt, like me, never had children. So grandma only had 3 and my brother wasn't really around that much since he came late in life and lead a different life. Far far removed (thankfully now) -- Evem my sister lived in another state, so I pretty much had grandma to myself as I did with my aunt. However, I missed living around my mom whom I didn't get to see very often - mostly phone, email in the later part of her life - like 6 years of it.
My aunt never did get into the computer and neither did my grandmother. But it was still early on in 1986 and 1993 - so it was even before I was messing with the net - I didn't get involved until 1994. AOL was my first stop and that was short lived.
OMG! Yep Avacado Trees, Peach Trees, apples, pears, chickens (well not in the trees), but I did see one running around without her head after grandpa chopped it off. Ugh. I still have the bedroom furniture from that house. I miss it, I miss it. My grandmother used to make the best Homemade sauerkraut in these huge metal milk vats. She was from Czech. and oh could she cook. She was the head cook for Sonja Henie (she didn't even live as long as my grandma) who treated my grandmother awful. She also worked for Zasu Pitts (she didn't live as long as grandma either) and Edward G. Robinson (now I have to look him up just to see - nope) who treated her the best. Grandma was a trip, Born 1896 and died January 1986, a week before she was going to come up to my house and see it as I wanted her to move in. Darn her. Oh we are dating each other, aren't we? I really loved living with my grandma while my sister was having surgery. I loved snuggling with her, laying my head in her lap and her brushing my hair. The three most powerful influence on my life, my grandmother, my aunt and my mom. Thank God I was born into my crazy family.
