What TV Shows did you grow up with?

I was watching Law & Order from Wednesday night, and they were discussing "organized riots". This drove me into a mental tail-spin trying to remember the word for such a phrase. After searching the net I came up with it. Oxymoron was part of my knowledge vocabulary but never made it's way into my usage vocabulary - so I guess it's understandable that I couldn't put my finger on the word. I'm telling you all this in preface to requesting some of your better ones.

I remember getting an e-mail full of them (many moons ago) and thought it was fun to think about. I can only remember a very few that were listed but here they are.

1. Microsoft Works
2. Central Intelligence Agency
3. Ice Burn

Please come up with some of your own to add, or some pat answers that you know of.

Thanks,

Cat

In the Army we said the number ONE Oxymoron was "MILITARY INTELLIGENCE" (Epecially poigniant to me--as that was the area I worked in! LOL) How about "Amish Electrician"? or since we are very TV Oriented around here--how about the fact that the networks call CENSORS--the people in charge of "CONTINUITY"?

I agree with Military Intelligence, wholeheartedly. LOL I think I'll try to Google it later.

Yeah, what's up with them taking the Gay outta Grey? Continuity my butt! I really didn't know that the networks called their Censors anything. I remember in the 50's that married folks were not allowed to have anything but TWIN beds, and even then they had to be depicted with at least one foot on the floor! In today's market, however, I don't see anything wrong with showing alternate life styles. Do you?

No. Hans Conreid was once asked if he'd do a nude scene (some may remember him as UNCLE TUNOOSE on Make Room for Daddy)--he replied--"If it gets laughs--why not?" LOL--that's sort of emblematic of my attitude--the STORY or PLOT is paramount -- anything that fits the story being told -- especially if it enhances it--then write on!

Actually that term exists or at least it did when there were several big cases going on in Los Angeles - especially pertaining to the riots in conjunction with Rodney King and then the fires started yet again in South Central and if you recall that truck driver was pulled out of his cab and the whole defense was about organized riots. It was weird - but it seem to set a precedent for how such cases were handled in the future. I wish I could remember the outcome, all I remember is that I was mad as hell at the whole situation.

How about "Jumbo Shrimp"? I got this from the late-great George Carlin.
