Bob started a discussion on Three Rivers and it looked interesting enough to share with everyone. I really like O'Laughlin and am happy to see him back so quickly after Moonlight was cancelled.
Cougartown is the single-camera comedy that dares to tell the truth about dating after divorce. Juggling a teenage son with her thriving career and budding love life isn't easy, but before you know it, Jules will have you cheering, "Go Cougars!"
Dating in the Dark is a unique alternative series that asks the age-old question, "Is Love Blind?" Each week, three single men and three single women, all looking for love, will move into a house together, but be totally sequestered from the opposite sex. While they will have no chance of seeing each other in the light, they will have the opportunity to date in a completely dark room. Looks will be taken out of the equation as the men and women get to know each other and form bonds in total darkness. After several days of dating in the darkroom, the participants will select the one member of the opposite sex that they want to see revealed in the light. For the first time, the participants will see whom they've been dating, wooing, kissing, snuggling with and forming bonds with. And after they see each other in the light for the first time, they have to make the difficult decision...do they stay with the person they fell for in the dark, or leave them behind?
I feel certain that almost EVERY CONCEIVABLE permutation of the exploitation of human foibles has been foisted off on the unsuspecting ( and in some cases--almost UN-conscious!) viewing public! The dirty little secret about "Reality TV" is that since it is almost ALWAYS much cheaper to produce than scripted fiction--"Reality tv" can be profitable with much smaller Nielsen numbers than the aforementioned fictional offerings! I believe (and earnestly hope and pray) that reality shows will be a phenomenon much like disco--very dominant for a few short years (though much poorer in quality than its predecessor)--and after being exploited to the max--the public will tire of it like a child with a shiny toy! In the future--I hope our descendants don't judge our culture largely on the basis of such bankrupt pretensions (disco and reality tv!)!

Boy, do I hope you're right about it being a fad! I refuse to watch any reality on the general principle that you get what you watch. As far as I'm concerned it can go the way of the 8 track players with my blessing.
