What TV Shows did you grow up with?

I'm a very big Aaron Sorkin fan, since Lost is one of my favorite show of all time. Because of that, I did some reasearch and found an earlier offering of his - Sports Night. That was a sit-com and extremely well done and worth renting if you line the genre. I also love Studio 60 on the Sunset strip.

I know we have quite a few Sci-Fi fans and his latest show is a Sci-Fi which I'm crazy about, and just wondered if any of you were watching it?

Yeah, I know whatcha mean. Every week is a new "Fringe" occult/paranormal phenomenon. Ya know what I really like about it? The nice way they tell you how long the next commercial is gonna be! LOL Since I record everything, it makes editing the DVD a breeze.

So far I've seen the premiere--extremely good so far--especially the twist ending--"The Pattern" will be my chief interest in this series! I admit to being a little surprised that Mr. Abrams is comfortable in this genre'!HERE'S a PUZZLER--speaking of patterns --(although -- its only 2 instances--its also the ONLY 2 instances)in both cases where someone has asked "Didja' watch FRINGE?" (the other was me asking my daughter)--
the reply was--basically that they liked it --but hjad a bit of trouble remembering most of the plot!!! That is just a little scary! Could that be an indicator that Fringe is suited to a particular type of thinking--or more accurately--of organizing thought? An interesting query that may prove MORE interesting as the series unfolds! My favorite character is the SON of the somewhat crazy scientist--with remarks like -- "After 6 HOURS? Yeah--because that's when they're REALLY DEAD!"--how can ya' help but be favorably impressed?? Happy viewing! PS--Word had it a few months ago that FOX had ANOTHER scifi program in development about aa group making the First Ever interstellar voyage from earthhno word about it lately--but I'm hoping its at least a mid-season replacement!

I'm a little leary of gettng too hung up on FOX shows (especially paranormal ones), cuz they drop good shows like hot potatoes if they don't pull ratings immediately. Wonder what the new one is? Any hints on a title?

Sadly - the sci-fi series I touted earlier (to premiere Fall 2009)--actually WAS done as a pilot --it was NOT picked up by FOX! Instead look for "V" and "FLASH FORWARD" on ABC--Day One on NBC (premieres late in the 2009-10 season) and "STARGATE UNIVERSE" on OCT. 2nd (9 PM EST) on SYFY (formerly called the SciFi Channel.)

PS The pilot I mentioned -- "VIRTUALITY" CAN be rented or bought (netflix has it) -- I believe it should be worth watching--I'm putting it on my list! (Another very good TV movie from the recent past -a syfy offering- is "TALES of the RANGERS" --based on the Babylon 5 series--also available on Netflix)

You might wanna check here: 2009-previews I posted a lot of the new shows previews. Not for the new SyFy channel however, since I don't get it *$%^#@# because Comcast wants an arm and a leg for it!

Right now, Dish Network is running a special (incl. 4 receivers) $20 bucks a month for a year! (Syfy incl.)--if you want more info--lemme know!

Dish Network needs outside equipment?

No longer--I enjoyed it a lot at first--the mystery and Irony were incredible! When it became apparent, however, that this was going to be largely a rather gory medical show--I lost interest. I have little desire to see mangled bodies offered up as edgy sci-fi.
